Kia ora. Your privacy matters to us as much as your comfort. This policy explains what personal information Zealand Relax collects, why we collect it, and how we look after it, in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles.
1. Who we are
“Zealand Relax”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Zealand Relax Limited, operating the massage sanctuary at 12 Lakeview Terrace, Queenstown 9300, New Zealand, and the website zealandrelax.com (the “Website”).
We are responsible for the personal information we collect. Our Privacy Officer can be contacted using the details in section 12.
2. Information we collect
We only collect information we need to provide our services. This may include:
- Contact and booking details — your name, email address, phone number, preferred date, time and ritual, provided through our booking form, by email or by phone.
- Health information — before your treatment we ask about relevant health conditions, injuries, allergies, medication or pregnancy so we can treat you safely. This is sensitive information and is handled with extra care (see section 7).
- Payment information — payments are processed by our payment provider. We do not store full card numbers.
- Gift voucher details — the purchaser's and recipient's names and email addresses.
- Website usage data — collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies, such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, time spent on the site and how you arrived at it (see section 4).
- Communications — messages, reviews and feedback you send us.
Wherever possible we collect information directly from you. You can choose not to provide certain information, but we may then be unable to take your booking or provide a treatment safely.
3. How we use your information
- to take, confirm, change and remind you of bookings;
- to provide treatments safely and tailor them to your needs;
- to process payments and issue gift vouchers;
- to answer your enquiries and provide customer support;
- to understand how our Website is used and improve it;
- to measure the performance of our advertising, including on Google;
- to send you news and offers, only if you have agreed to receive them;
- to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We will not use your information for any other purpose unless you agree or the law permits it.
6. Storing information overseas
Some of our service providers, including Google, may store information on servers outside New Zealand (for example in Australia, the United States or the European Union). Where we send personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected by safeguards comparable to those in the Privacy Act 2020, as required by Information Privacy Principle 12.
7. Security & retention
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including secure (HTTPS) connections, password-protected systems and limiting access to staff who need it. Paper health intake forms are kept in a locked cabinet.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described above or as required by law. Treatment and health records are generally kept for up to seven years after your last visit, and financial records for seven years as required by New Zealand tax law. After that, information is securely destroyed or anonymised.
If a privacy breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as required by the Privacy Act 2020.
8. Marketing emails
We will only send you newsletters or offers if you have opted in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, in line with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007, and you can also ask us to stop at any time. Booking confirmations and reminders are not marketing and will still be sent.
9. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you and to access it;
- ask us to correct information you believe is wrong;
- withdraw consent to marketing at any time.
To make a request, contact our Privacy Officer. We will respond within 20 working days. We may need to verify your identity first. Requests are free of charge.
10. Children
Our Website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 16. Treatments for guests under 16 are booked by a parent or guardian, who must be present.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be published on this page with its effective date. Significant changes will be highlighted on our Website.
